About

The London Classic Violin Competition is one of the six contests being organised within the Six Ways to Classic Violin Olympus initiative.

Taking place from the 26th to the 30th of August 2024 at the Royal College of Music, this will be the fourth entry in the series, with contestants going head-to-head in front of a 5-person jury board composed of various globally-acclaimed artists from around the world.

Violinists will be competing over a number of rounds, the last of which will be streamed live online, challenging each other for a €35,000 prize fund, as well as the chance to win entry to the invite-only Classic Violin Olympus competition, which will be held in Dubai, UAE, from the 22nd to the 28th of April 2025, featuring €310,000 worth of monetary prizes as well as other awards and opportunities for all finalists there.

Royal College of Music

The London Classic Violin Competition will be taking place on the premises of the internationally-acclaimed Royal College of Music, one of the most famous institutions in the UK. True to their founders' intentions, professors teach exceptional students from all backgrounds and cultures, encouraging music as an artform, as well as enriching our society and shared experiences. An important aspect of music is undoubtedly its ability to bring people together, promoting unity rather than division. With a student cohort numbering some 60 nationalities, the Royal College of Music is determined to play its part.

In addition to their monetary awards, the two top-ranked participants shall also win eligibility to participate in the invite-only Classic Violin Olympus International Competition, which will be held in Dubai in April 2025, with all expenses paid.

Registration

Please fill in the form below in order to register for the 2024 London Classic Violin Competition. May we remind you that candidates will not be admitted to the competition unless payment is received. Should you choose to withdraw from the competition, this registration fee will not be reimbursed. Once you have successfully registered for the competition, please make sure to upload your video for the Preliminary Round. The 20 successful candidates will be contacted directly by the organisers at least 8 weeks prior to the beginning of the competition.

Admission Fee

The admittance fee to enter a pre-selection video round is €50.
Selected candidates will be asked to pay a further €50 participation fee to take part in the London Classic Violin Competition itself. This entry fee is non-refundable.

The London Classic Violin Competition enjoys the support of a number of local and international media organisations from all over the world, many of whom are household names within the world of classical music. Chief amongst these are The Violin Channel, the world's leading classical music news source, Medici.tv, the premier resource for classical music programming, Euronews, and Bachtrack.

Both The Violin Channel and Medici.tv will be streaming the entirety of the pre-selection process on their official platforms, while the latter shall also be sending a film crew to United Kingdom to create a short documentary about the event and the two top-ranked contestants.

Additionally, these organisations, along with the rest of the press representatives who are covering the competition, will also be producing regular articles and reports detailing the events going on in London, guaranteeing that viewers anywhere around the globe will be able to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in United Kingdom at all times.
